The calm waters of Lake Pamvotida are illuminated by the glow of the Olympic Flame, which arrived in Ioannina on the evening of Tuesday, April 23, marking the 8th day of the Olympic Torch Relay for “Paris 2024”.

Thousands of residents of Ioannina welcomed the symbol of Olympism, giving a festive character to the event organized by the Municipality of Ioannina, despite the relatively bad weather.

On the 8th day of the Torch Relay, the Light of Olympism started from Alexandroupolis and made its first stop in Eleftheroupoli, where the reception by the residents was surprising.

Young and old people with Greek flags, in their hands, admired the Torchbearers before lighting the altar in front of the City Hall.

This was followed by passage through Veroia and Vergina, where the Altar in the Ancient Necropolis of the Aigai was lit by the Olympian cross-country skier Maria Ntanou.

On the 9th day of the Olympic Torch Relay, the Olympic Flame will leave Ioannina, after passing through Igoumenitsa, the Flame will proceed to Corfu.
