Singapore 2010

1st Youth Olympic Games “Singapore 2010”

Greece took part in the first Youth Olympic from August 14-26, 2010, in Singapore with 28 athletes, 18 boys and 10 girls.
Greece has won two silver medals: Mihalis Nastopoulos – Apostolos Lampridis (rowing ), Zoe Paraskevopoulou (archery) and three bronze medals: Eleni Diamanti and Lydia Ntalamangka (rowing), basketball team and Thodoros Chrysanthopoulos (Athletics).

Nanjing 2014

2nd Youth Olympic Games “NANJING 2014”

Greece took part in the second Summer Youth Olympic Games held in the city of Nanjing, China (August 16-28, 2014) with 12 athletes and 10 athletes in 8 sports. The leader of the team was Yannis Karras and our country won three medals: Silver by Apostolos Christou (swimming) and Athena Maria Angelopoulou (rowing) and bronze by Marios Giakoumatos (fencing). The team consisted of:

Buenos Aires 2018

3rd Youth Olympic Games “BUENOS AIRES 2018”

The 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games “Buenos Aires 2018” took place in the capital of Argentina from October 6 to 18. The Greek delegation consisted of 14 male and 19 female athletes, the Chef de Mission was Ioannis Karras.

The Greek team achieved its best performance in the history of the event, winning 6 medals, including 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. The gold medal won by Maria Kyridou and Christina Bourbou in rowing was the first gold medal won by the country in the Youth Olympic Games.

Alexandros Kalpogiannakis in the Techno 293 boats in sailing and Elina Tzengo in the javelin throw also climbed to the top step of the podium. A silver medal was won by Savvas Thomoglou in the 200m breaststroke. The two bronze medals were won by Fani Tzeli in taekwondo +55kg. and Olga Fiaska in athletics over 5 km in race walking.

The team consisted of:

Athletics: Panagiota Dosi (high Jump), Olga Fiaska (5 km race walking), Gerasimos Kalogerakis (javelin), Spyridoula Karydis (triple Jump), Sofia Kessidi (discus), Stavroula Kosmidou (hammer throw), Antonios Santas (pole vault), Vasileia Spyrou (3 km.), Theodoros Ziogas (hammer throw), Anthimos Kelepouris (3 km.), Ioannis Kamarinos (110 m. hurdles), Eleni Ioannidou (800 m.), Elina Tzengo (javelin).

Swimming: Andreas Georgakopoulos (400 freestyle), Eleni Kontogeorgou (200 breaststroke), Nicole Pavlopoulou (50 breaststroke), Savvas Thomoglou (200 breaststroke).

Taekwondo: Anargyros Sofotasios (-73 kg.), Georgios Ioannou (-55 kg.), Fani Tzeli (-55 kg.).

Rowing: Christina Bourbou (pair) Maria Kyridou (pair), Stefanos Karakoglou (single skulls).

Sailing: Aikaterini Divari (Techno 293), Alexandros Kalpogiannakis (Techno 293).

Weightlifting: Gerasimos Galiatsatos (85 kg), Maria Kardara (53 kg).

Winter Youth Olympic Games

INNSBRUCK 2012

1st Winter Youth Olympic Games “INNSBRUCK 2012”

Greece participated in the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games, held in Innsbruck, Austria, from 13 to 22 January 2012, with two male and one female athlete.

The Greek delegation consisted of athletes Dimitris Kyriazis (cross-country), Massimiliano Valcareggi (slalom) and Anastasia Gogou (slalom).

The best performance was given by Massimiliano Valcareggi, who finished 8th in the Super-G Slalom with a time of 1:05.55, achieving the greatest success in the history of the Winter Olympics for Greece.

 

LILLEHAMMER 2016

2nd WINTER OLYMPIC YOUTH GAMES “LILLEHAMMER 2016”

Greece participated in the 2nd Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, from February 12-21, 2016, with two male and one female athlete, namely Nikos Tsourekas (cross-country skiing), Nikos Mavridis (biathlon) and Anastasia Mantsiou (alpine skiing), who was also the team’s flag bearer. The athletes were accompanied by coaches Kyriakos Xanthis and Michalis Zouraris, the technical advisor of HOC Stratos Karetos and the head of the mission, member of the Plenary Assembly of HOC Vassilis Katsoras.

 

Αlpine Skiing

Slalom: Anastasia Mantsiou 28th out of 54 athletes with a total time of 2:10.03 in the two races.

Giant Slalom, finishing 32nd with a total time of 3:09.23 in both races.

Super Giant Slalom 35th in the with a time of 1:29.27, while she did not finish in the slalom, leaving her in the 35th place in the final ranking.

Cross-Country

10 km freestyle cross country Nikos Tsourekas 38th out of 49 participants in the with a time of 27:47.5.

Cross Country Cross 40th with a time of 3:36.17.

Biathlon

10 km Cross Country Pursuit: Nikolaos Mavridis Nikolaos Mavridis 47th place with a time of 42:18.3, where he had very good shots with 17 out of 20 but was behind in time on the ski.

7.5 km Biathlon he finished 49th with a time of 26:46.7.

 

LAUSANNE 2020

3rd WINTER OLYMPIC YOUTH GAMES “LAUSANNE 2020”

The 3rd Youth Olympic Games were held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from January 9 to 22. The Greek team consisted of 12 athletes, six boys and six girls.

The athletes who participated in the Games were Marmarellis Christos (Alpine Skiing), who was also the flag bearer of the team, Antoniadis Angelos (Biathlon), Anastasiadis Georgios (Cross-Country Skiing), Spyridon Papadopoulos (Cross-Country Skiing), Georgios Albanidis (freestyle skiing), Dimitrios Graikos (snowboarding), Ioannou Eleni (cross-country skiing), Giannakoviti Styliani (cross-country skiing), Kaltsogianni Maria (alpine skiing), Charalambidou Konstantina (biathlon), Tita Nefeli (biathlon), Kotsalou Ioanna (biathlon).

The team was accompanied by four coaches: Sofia Gritsi, Kyriakos Xanthis, Nikos Anastasiadis and Fotis Daskalopoulos. Head of mission was Hellenic Olympic Committee member Vassilis Katsoras, technical advisor was Stratos Karetos.

With an excellent performance, Maria Kaltsogianni and Christos Marmarellis finished 30th and 33rd in the slalom, respectively.

2024 Winter Youth Olympics - Wikipedia

4th Winter Youth Olympic Games “Gangwon 2024”

Greece participated in the 4th Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 with a team of young and talented athletes. The Games, held from January 19 to 30, 2024, in the Gangwon region of South Korea, offered our athletes a unique opportunity to compete at the international level and gain valuable experience.

The Greek delegation consisted of 14 athletes—six boys and eight girls—who competed in five winter sports: Alpine skiing, Biathlon, Cross-country skiing, Freestyle skiing, and Snowboarding. They represented our country with enthusiasm and passion.

The team was accompanied by six coaches: Alexandros Tsaknakis, Kyriakos Xanthis, Maria Vaikou, Nikos Anastasiadis, Christos Titas, and Fotis Daskalopoulos. The Head of Mission was Demosthenes Gyrousis, a member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, with Stratos Karetos serving as Technical Advisor.

Greece led the Opening Ceremony, as is tradition in the Olympic Games, with Apostolos Vougioukas and Maria Dimitra Tsiarka serving as flag bearers.
