The Hellenic Olympic Committee at UC Santa Barbara ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games
The presence of the Hellenic Olympic Committee at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) marked another important step in the effort to build a strong network of partnerships in the United States that will substantially support the preparation of Greek Olympic athletes ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The HOC delegation, consisting of President Isidoros Kouvelos, LA28 Chef de Mission Petros Synadinos, and Head of the President’s Office Alexandra Karaiskou, met with the Chancellor of UC Santa Barbara, Dennis Assanis, a distinguished academic of Greek origin who leads one of the most important public universities in the United States.
The meeting took place in a highly positive atmosphere and focused on opportunities for cooperation ahead of LA28, with emphasis on the preparation of Team Hellas, the utilization of top-level university facilities, and the strengthening of ties with the Greek-American community.
The members of the Hellenic Olympic Committee had the opportunity to visit and receive detailed information about the university’s sports facilities and infrastructure, which could become an important reference point for the preparation of Greek athletes ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games. UCSB, with its high-level academic and athletic environment, offers conditions that can support the training, accommodation, and overall preparation of athletes from all sports.
The Hellenic Olympic Committee is working systematically to facilitate the preparation of Greek athletes for LA28 by identifying suitable training bases, strengthening strategic partnerships, and ensuring that Team Hellas will have access to organized, reliable, and high-level training conditions.
