Greek Olympians and Paralympians honours HOC President Isidoros Kouvelos
The Hellenic Olympic and Paralympic Winners Association honored the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos, during the prestigious award ceremony for the Olympic and Paralympic Team of the “Paris 2024” Olympic Games, which was organized in collaboration with the administration of the Olympic Stadium.
The honorary award was presented to Mr. Kouvelos by the President of the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association , Voula Zygouri, the President of the Hellenic Paralympic Winners Association, Grigoris Polychronidis, and the General Director of the Olympic Stadium, Konstantinos Chaliouris, who wished to Mr. Kouvelos every success in his new duties.
Mr. Kouvelos, together with the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Christos Staikouras, awarded the bronze Olympic medalists in rowing, Antonis Papakonstantinou and Petros Gaidatzis.
In his speech, Mr. Kouvelos stated, among other things:
“It is a great joy and honor to be here today at this beautiful celebration of sports and to be close to our Olympians. These young athletes fought, worked hard from an early age, and sacrificed many things to reach the top, to raise the Greek flag, and to bring glory to our country.
Greece is the birthplace of Olympic values. These values are a privilege of our nation and must be taught to the youth, to our children. The role of an Olympian begins the day they win a medal. Because Olympism is built on two equal pillars. One pillar is sports, and the other equally important pillar is education and culture. Without education and culture, Olympism cannot endure.”
