Anna Korakaki, shooting athlete, won the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol final. The 20-year-old Korakaki won the first medal for our country in this sport, after almost a century, and since 1920, when the Olympic team won the silver medal in air pistol from 30 meters. The gold medal was won by Chinese Mengxue Zhang , while the silver medal was won by Russian Vitalina Batsarashkina.

The 20-year-old champion from Drama, who participated in the Olympic Games for the first time, made history in Rio when she won gold in 25m pistol, becoming the first athlete from our country to win two medals in the same discipline. Anna Korakaki, the youngest finalist in 25m pistol, beat Monika Karsch (Germany) 8:6 to win the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Gerber (Switzerland).

Anna Korakaki finished first in the heats and second in the semifinals. She is also the first athlete in 100 years to win two medals in the same discipline. The last one was Konstantinos Tsiklitiras in 1912 in Stockholm. At the same time, it is the first gold medal for Greece in twelve years, because both in Beijing (2008) and in London (2012) there were only silver and bronze for our country.
