Tasoula Kelesidou easily qualified for the discus grand final. She had achieved a shot at 63.64, the qualification limit was 63.00. In the final, this time without stress and with an enormous self-confidence, she started strong and threw the discus to 65.71 in the very first throw, a performance that should have earned her the silver medal, because only the very experienced Elina Zvereva from Belarus could surpass her with a distance of 68.40.
