Education: Graduate of the University of Macedonia, Department of Business Administration
Professional Career: Banker with experience in managerial positions in branches in Greece and three years in a foreign branch (Bulgaria).
Sports Activity: From a young age, he was involved in sports, starting with track and field. He was an athlete in the 200m and 400m races with Iraklis Thessaloniki. In his teenage years, he developed a deep passion for basketball and competed as an athlete in local A-category championships. At the same time, he was a founding member of the Basketball Referees Association and an international referee during significant basketball moments in Thessaloniki. He obtained a referee’s diploma and successfully completed the first basketball coaching school of the General Secretariat of Sports (GGA) in 1986. In 1987, he was part of the team that, for the first time in Greece, recorded basketball game statistics during the unforgettable European Championship, where Greece won the gold medal at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF). A fortuitous ascent of Mount Olympus with friends led him to turn to mountaineering. From 1988 to 1994, he undertook several significant climbing routes and participated in numerous expeditions, climbing almost all the high mountains of Europe (Caucasus, Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Monte Rosa) as well as in expeditions to the Pamir Mountains (Lenin, Kongur). From 1992, he participated for three years in the first ski mountaineering competitions, a sport that was making its debut at the time, alongside competitive climbing.
Sports Administration Experience: In 1994, primarily due to professional commitments, he decided to step back from active sports participation and focus on developing the sports he had come to love over the years. He ran for a position on the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing (EOOA). Since then, he have been continuously elected for 30 years, serving exclusively in sports-related roles. He have held positions for 6 years as ski mountaineering commissioner, 8 years as mountaineering commissioner, and 16 years as competitive climbing commissioner.
