
The President of the Hellenic Republic congratulates the Olympic Team
The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou welcomed in the Presidential Palace the athletes who participated in the Olympic Games “Tokyo 2020”, together with their coaches in order to congratulate them for their presence in Tokyo Olympics. The delegation was accompanied by the president of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and IOC member Spyros Capralos, by the chef de mission Michalis Fysentzidis and by the deputy chef de mission Iakovos Filippousis .
Among the athletes were Stefanos Ntouskos, Olympic champion in rowing, Lefteris Petrounias, bronze medalist in gymnastics and members of the national team, who took the silver medal in the waterpolo tournament.
HOC President Spyros Capralos addressing to the President of the Hellenic Republic said: “I would like to thank you once again, for welcoming our Olympic team. All the athletes, whether getting a medal or not, did their best in Tokyo. We are here with their coaches, as they are playing a key role in the athletes’ life and they deserve a similar recognition. I would like to underline that the athletes deserve our congratulations not only because of the sports performance, but mainly because they have displayed excellent behavior which led Greece one step higher, one step further.”
The Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Lefteris Avgenakis and Secretary General of Sports Giorgos Mavrotas were also present.
