The dress rehearsal for the Tokyo 2020 Lighting Ceremony of the Olympic Flame in Ancient Olympia took place today without any problems.

The rehearsal was closed to the public due to public health measures and the Flame was lit by the sun rays from the hands of the High Priestess Xanthi Georgiou. Artemis Ignatiou is the choreographer and artistic director and Yannis Psimadas is the music composer of the ceremony.

The Chairman of the HOC Torch Relay Commission, Thanasis Vasileiadis who is responsible for the ceremony gave the last instructions, so that everything runs smoothly tomorrow during the Lighting ceremony.

The Lighting ceremony of the Olympic Flame will take place on Thursday, March 12 at 11:30 am, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr. Thomas Bach, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr. Spyros Capralos, and will be closed to the public.
