Maria Ntanou is candidate for the IOC Athletes’ Commission

Cross-country ski champion Maria Ntanou is a candidate for the IOC Athletes’ Commission election that will take place during the Winter Olympic Games “Beijing 2022”.
Maria Ntanou was nominated by the Hellenic Olympic Committee and her candidacy was approved by the Executive Board of the IOC. Ten female and seven male athletes from 17 National Olympic Committees, six sports and five continents will compete for the two vacant seats on the Commission.
The HOC President, IOC Μember and EOC President Spyros Capralos remarked about Maria: «We are delighted that the International Olympic Committee approved our proposal and Maria Ntanou will be a candidate for the Athletes’ Commission. Maria, in addition to being an excellent athlete with participation in two Winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010 and Pyeong Chang 2018 is working in the International Fencing Federation. She has also participated in the Winter Youth Olympic Games “Lausanne 2020″ as an Athlete – Role Model contributing to a series of educational activities with young athletes in the Olympic Village and the Field of Play. Her exceptional character, her spirit of solidarity to the other athletes and her willingness to contribute in the development of sports guarantee that if Maria is elected, has a lot to offer to the Olympic Movement.”
