Lecture by the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Isidoros Kouvelos at the University of Southern California (USC)
As part of the Hellenic Olympic Committee leadership’s visit to Los Angeles, a lecture by the HOC President, Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, was held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the University of Southern California (USC), on the topic: “From Olympism in the Era of Coubertin to Contemporary Challenges of the Olympic Movement.”
The event was part of the “Olympic Ideals” series, co-organized by the USC Center on Public Diplomacy and the Consulate General of Greece in Los Angeles, within the framework of the lead-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
During the mission, which includes HOC President Isidoros Kouvelos, Secretary General Stefanos Chandakas, Chef de Mission for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games Petros Synadinos, and Alexandra Karaiskou from the President’s Office, the program features meetings and interviews with the President of the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee, representatives of the Greek-American community, as well as figures from the business and academic sectors, including the President of the Los Angeles Times.
A special focus of the visit is the initiative to create the Hellenic Olympic House in Los Angeles, which will serve as a hub for the cultural and athletic promotion of Greece during the 2028 Olympic Games. The Hellenic Olympic House will act as a meeting point, showcase venue, and hospitality center for visitors, sponsors, and members of the Greek diaspora, while promoting the values of Olympism and Greece’s enduring contribution to the Olympic Ideal.
The visit of the Hellenic Olympic Committee to Los Angeles aims to strengthen cooperation with the Games’ Organizing Committee, advance the preparation of the Greek delegation, and promote the Olympic Ideals and Greece’s presence within the international Olympic Movement.
