Isidoros Kouvelos to Stefanos Ntouskos: “You are a role model for young people”
A few hours after Stefanos Ntouskos returned to Greece from China, he was welcomed at the Hellenic Olympic Committee by President Isidoros Kouvelos, who warmly congratulated him on winning the gold medal at the World Championships in Shanghai.
“You brought us great joy and pride by raising the Greek flag high. You are a role model for young people, inspiring them to get involved in sport, and you deserve many congratulations for that. The Hellenic Olympic Committee will stand by you in whatever you need and will support you all the way to the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Don’t let anything distract you — stay focused on your goal, the Olympic medal,” said Isidoros Kouvelos to the World Champion.
Stefanos Ntouskos who was an Olympic Champion in Tokyo Olympics, thanked the Hellenic Olympic Committee for its support:
“Thank you, Mr. President, for being by my side and by the side of all rowers. In the final, I gave everything I had in the last 500 meters, and I made it — winning the only medal missing from my collection. I want to keep working hard and striving for the best results in all major international competitions, with the Olympic Games in Los Angeles as my ultimate goal.”
Mr. Kouvelos also shared some positive news regarding the Olympic Rowing Center in Schinias:
“The Hellenic Olympic Committee has prepared a comprehensive plan for the renovation of the facilities, which are currently in poor condition. I know that a positive decision has been made by the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP) to transfer Schinias to the Attica Region so that renovation work can begin, and I believe that we will receive the final green light within 2025.”
Together with the HOC President, the Head of Mission for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, Petros Synadinos, also congratulated Stefanos Ntouskos and reiterated the Committee’s full support for the outstanding rower.
Stefanos Ntouskos was accompanied by the President of the Hellenic Rowing Federation and Olympic medalist Vasileios Polymeros, Vice President Antonis Argyriou, and Secretary General Roger Gatt. Vasileios Polymeros said:
“Thank you very much, Mr. President, for everything you have done and continue to do for rowing. Beyond supporting the athletes, what you are doing for Schinias is extremely important to us, as it is the main training center for our national teams, and the truth is that the facilities are currently facing many problems.”
