In the framework of his official visit to Los Angeles, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr Isidoros Kouvelos, met with the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Mr Casey Wasserman, for a discussion on matters related to the upcoming Games and the iconic Lighting and Handover Ceremonies of the Olympic Flame in Greece.

Discussions focused on the preparatory coordination leading up to the LA 2028 Games, including cultural and ceremonial aspects of the Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony in Ancient Olympia and the Handover Ceremony at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining the authenticity and symbolism, of these events, which serve as the spiritual prologue to every edition of the Olympic Games.

This meeting marks an important step in the ongoing cooperation between the HOC and LA28, as preparations intensify toward 2028.
