Completion of the two-year Olympic Leadership journey – EU Project “OLYMPIC COMMITTEES’ LEADERSHIP PROGRAM – OCLP”

The final transnational meeting of the EU funded project “Olympic Committees’ Leadership Program-OCLP” took place on November 19th, in Warsaw, marking the successful completion of this ambitious two-year initiative.

The partners, including the Hellenic Olympic Committee and its Athletes’ Commission, gathered to celebrate the achievements of the project, which aimed to develop the leadership skills of elite athletes, high-performance coaches and executives of sports organizations, as well as to discuss its impact in the participating countries.

Following the introductory remarks, the overall findings of the research, conducted with the aim of understanding the leadership framework, were presented. Based on these findings, workshops on topics such as Sports Diplomacy and Governance, Dual Career, Public Speaking were conducted in the countries of the partners.

The meeting focused on the most significant achievements of the project, the mentorship programs in the field of leadership, as well as the mentor-mentee leadership impact projects: Representatives from each participating National Olympic Committee presented the innovative projects developed and implemented by their mentees over the past few months. Each presentation showcased the practical application of the leadership skills developed through the mentorship program.

In total, 80 participants from 4 countries were successfully trained, 16 of whom took part in the mentorship programs.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on the next steps, confirming the overall success of the OCLP project in strengthening the leadership skills of the participating NOCs.

In Greece, the project results were presented at the 3rd “Make Place for One More Woman” Awards Ceremony of the Hellenic Olympians’ Association, on December 1st, in the presence of leading representatives of the Greek Olympic Movement and the sports leadership of our country. Among them were the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, the President of the European Olympic Committees and IOC member, Mr. Spyros Capralos OLY, the Secretary General of Sports, Mr. Giorgos Mavrotas OLY, the President of the Hellenic Olympians’ Association and the HOC Athletes’ Commission, Ms. Voula Kozompoli OLY, Presidents and Board Members of sports federations, as well as numerous Olympians, Paralympians and elite athletes.
