Initially there was great interest in the competition and 21 cyclists declared their participation. Finally only four were left at the start, three foreigners and the Greek Stamatis Nikolopoulos. The race began in the afternoon in good weather conditions, which greatly benefited the competition. From the start, Frenchman Paul Masson and Nikolopoulos claimed the first place, and there was a fierce duel until the end. Everything was decided in the last meters, where the French champion won by just two seconds: 4.58.2 against 5.00.2. The final ranking: Masson (France) 4.58.2 S. Nikolopoulos (Greece) 5.00.2 Flameng (France) Rosemeyer (Germany).

The event featured a one-lap speed race in the stadium, 333 meters and 33 centimeters. Because of the speed it had attracted the interest of many fans and so the atmosphere was wonderful. The superiority of the Frenchman Paul Masson was obvious and so the first place became his personal matter with a performance of 24 seconds. Stamatis Nikolopoulos and Austrian Adolf Schmal were tied for second place with 26 seconds, and the jury decided to repeat the race for the two to determine a second winner. The Greek was slightly faster and won this repetition with a time of 25.4 seconds ahead of the somewhat tired Schmal with 26.6 seconds. The final ranking: Masson (France) 24.0 S.
