Silver Medal, April 11, 1896, Dionysis Kasdaglis – Dimitris Petrokokkinos, Tennis, Doubles, Athens 1896
Dionysis Kasdaglis and Dimitris Petrokokkinos were the only Greek pair, while the Akratopoulos brothers (Aristideis and Kostas) and Paspatis – Rallis also competed. The matches started with Kasdaglis-Petrokokkinos vs Paspatis-Rallis, a match that the first pair won, thus punching their ticket to the semifinals. There they met Flack (Australia) and Robertson (United Kingdom), whom they also defeated to reach the grand final, which was held on the same day as the men’s final against Boland (United Kingdom) and Traun (Germany). Boland, who protested strongly because the British flag was raised for his victory in the singles and not the Irish one, contributed the most to the victory. Kasdaglis – Petrokokkinos won the first set 7:5, but lost the next two 4:6 and 1:6, leaving them in second place. The final rankings: 1st Boland (Great Britain)-Trown (Germany) 2nd Kasdaglis-Petrokokinos (Greece) 3rd Flack (Australia)-Robertson (Great Britain) 3rd A. Akratopoulos-K. Akratopoulos (Greece).
