In Zappeion were the members of the royal family and dozens of sports fans. So the place was packed and the audience was enthusiastic. The games began in the morning, two foreign athletes and three Greeks participated. They were divided into pairs, and the reports from the time speak of a high level competition. Giannis Georgiadis beat in the first match G. Iatridis with 3:0 and right after that the dangerous Austrian Adolf Schmal also with 3:2. His third match was the most sensational of the matches against Telemachos Karakalos, where the victory was decided with a slight superiority in the strokes with 3:2 in favor of the former.
That was the key to the first place, as his victory in the next match against Holger Nielsen from Denmark was close but expected, 3:2. He finished his matches undefeated. His strikeout record was 12 for and six against.
