Silver medal, April 10, 1896, Thomas Xenakis, rope climbing. Athens 1896
There was a double Greek success in this competition. Nikos Andriakopoulos came first and Thomas Xenakis second, after a tough competition. The height of the rope was 14 meters, both reached the top, but Xenakis came second because, according to the rules, he had a slower climbing time. The competition was included in the Olympic program in 1896, 1904, 1906, 1924 and 1932.
The final ranking: Andriakopoulos (Greece) Xenakis (Greece) Hofmann (Germany) Jensen (Denmark) Elliot (GBR).
