Education: Economics at the University of Athens (1978), Master of Business Administration (MBA) at INSEAD University, France (1979). Excellent knowledge of English, French and Italian.

Professional career: Vice-Chairman of Bankers Trust Company (1979-1990), President of the Athens Stock Exchange and CEO of the HEXA Group companies (2004-2010), President of the European Stock Exchange Association (2008-2010). President and CEO of Star Bulk Carriers (2010- ). In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euroclinic group and member of the Board of Directors of GEK TERNA. He has served as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Greece, President of ETEBA, President of Astir Insurance Company, CEO of EPIROS SA. , CEO of EFG Balkan Investments and CEO of Bank of Athens.

Sports Activity: Greek Swimming Champion (1969-1974), athlete of the National Water Polo Team at the Olympic Games in Moscow (1980) and Los Angeles (1984)

Sports Administration Experience : Member of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (2010 – ), Member of the Olympic Solidarity Committee of the IOC (2018 – ), Head of the Greek Mission to the Atlanta Olympic Games (1996), Director of Sports of the Olympic Bid Committee of the “Athens 2004” Games, Member of the Board of Directors of the Organizing Committee of the “Athens 2004” Olympic Games, Appointed Advisor to the Organizing Committee and Deputy Head of Operations for the “Athens 2004” Games, General Secretary of the Olympic Games of the Ministry of Culture by decision of the Prime Minister and City Manager during the Olympic Games “Athens 2004”, President of the Coordinating Committee for the 1st European Games “Baku 2015” and for the 2nd European Games “Minsk 2019”.
