On Monday 23.6.2025, the 1st Educational Meeting within the framework of the EU ERASMUS+ project GUARD was organized with great success by the HOC at its headquarters.
The meeting was attended by 26 representatives from 23 Olympic Sports Federations as well as 2 executives of the National Olympic Academy. The following topics were presented:
- INTRODUCTION TO CHILD SAFEGUARDING IN SPORT
- THE NATIONAL LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR CHILD SAFEGUARDING IN SPORT
- ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CHILD SAFEGUARDING OFFICERS (WITHIN H.O.C., NATIONAL FEDERATIONS., SPORTS CLUBS)
Each module included the projection of slides including relevant educational material along with exercises in the form of scenarios. After a few minutes of study, the participants commented on them and made observations through their personal experiences and by illuminating parts of the new material.
In conclusion, all of them agreed that this initiative of the H.O.C. comes to frame the crucial field concerning safeguarding and protection of children-athletes and to provide the Sports Federations and the National Olympic Academy with specific tools and procedures for the protection of their Integrity.
The preparation and presentation of the educational material was undertaken by the Head of the HOC’s Ethics Commission Mrs. Fotini Karamanlaki in collaboration with the EU Projects Office of the HOC, Ms. Georgia Papathanasiou and Mr. Gabriel Mujollari.
