Title in the HOC: representative of the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation. President of the National Olympic Academy.
Education: Holds a degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sports and a Master’s degree from the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Health and Human Performance, specializing in School Physical Education. Additionally, holds an Executive Diploma in Sports Management from MC/University of Derby.
Professional Career: Currently a Wing Commander and Head of the Planning & Research Office at the Supreme Council of Armed Forces Sports. Has collaborated with the Sports Science departments of colleges and Vocational Training Institutes (IIEK Hippocrates, Attiko College, IIEK ALFA), sports clubs, and schools as a Physical Education teacher and as the Head of the Olympic Education Sector (Greek-French School St. Joseph). He is a gymnastics instructor at Hill School. Since 2017, he has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Sports Science Department of the Scientific College of Greece.
Sports Activity: A gold and silver Olympic medalist in artistic gymnastics (rings) at the Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Beyond his Olympic medals, he has achieved numerous international distinctions, including:
- Gold medal in the World Championships (Los Angeles 2003) in the rings event
- Gold medals in the European Championships (Bremen 2000, Ljubljana 2003)
- Bronze medal in the World Championships (Tianjin 1999)
- Silver and bronze medals in European Championships (Patras 2002, St. Petersburg 1998)
- Bronze medal in the European Masters with the National Team (Patras 1999)
In 1997, he introduced an original move in the rings event—transitioning from the cross position to the inverted cross with a fully extended body, without vertical support—which became a new element in the rings discipline worldwide. In 2000, he introduced two new exercises that were recorded in the FIG (International Gymnastics Federation) Code of Points as Tabakos and Tabakos II exercises.
Sports Administration Experience: Served as President of the Hellenic Olympians Association (2012–2014) and as a board member of the Association of Greek Olympic Participants (2014–2015, 2016–2017, 2020–2021). Additionally, he was a member of the Legislative and Technical Committee for Sports Law (2013–2014), an ex-officio board member of the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum (2013), a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the National Council Against Doping (ESKAN) (2016), a board member of the Sports Committee of the Organization for Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (2017), and a board member of the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation (2021–2022). He is a founding member of the Panhellenic Association of Gymnastics Athletes (PASG) and the Alumni Association of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).
